My issue involves getting a Bluetooth gamepad (Amazon Fire TV Game Controller) to work in games on Windows. Obviously since it isn't an Xbox 360 controller, getting it to work on an XInput-only game is going to require a work-around. The 2017 Amazon Fire TV (3rd Gen) is a change for the Fire TV product line, and not necessarily a good one for those interested in playing games. With the 3rd gen Fire TV, Amazon has moved towards something between the 2015 Fire TV (2nd Gen) and the 2016 Fire TV Stick (2nd Gen).

Best Fire Tv Game Controller

If you have an Amazon Fire TV and a Playstation 3 (PS3) but don’t want to pay for another controller for the Fire TV, you’re in luck. In a YouTube video from Amazon Fire TV, they have demonstrated a way to connect a Playstation 3 Dualshock 3 controller to the Fire TV. It is not an instant connection though, as you have to install some software first.
On your computer, you need to download the software “SixaxisPairTool”. Once that is installed, connect the Dualshock 3 to your computer over USB while the software is running and let the driver be installed so your computer recognizes the controller. The MAC address of the controller will then be displayed onscreen.

You will then have to also install and run the “Sixaxis Controller” app on your Fire TV, which costs $2.99. After that, run the app and tip the checkbox for “Enable Joystick” under the Joystick menu, which is located inside the settings of the app.
When you do that, you will see the local Bluetooth address of the Fire TV, which will then be entered into the “SixaxisPairTool” app located on your computer. Once you apply the change, turn on your Dualshock 3 controller and you should be connected.
The Amazon Fire TV has already been proven in the past to work with the Xbox 360, Playstation 4, and other controllers, but it’s nice to see more compatibility. Let us know in the comments if this worked for you.
